Project overview
Solution incentive
- Significant reduction in license fees for the managed database solution based on Microsoft SQL Server. Operating fees for SQL Server and Windows Server of the original solution were significant due to the deployment of database technology on 4 operating and 2 testing servers
- Migrating the entire solution to PostgreSQL database on Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system has freed the customer from license fees, yet the customer has the option to purchase commercial support for the database server
Result
- Successful migration of 6 databases with a total volume of about 300 GB of data
- STYRAX has provided verifiable protocols about maintaining data integrity
- Traffic transfer to the new technology was made during the night closure, i.e. without outage of customer service operations

- Assess the degree of dependency of the systems concerned on the original Microsoft technology
- Purging the affected applications from the dependency on specific database server
- Isolation of the remaining databasedependent functions and their porting for PostgreSQL
- Conducting incremental migration of large volume data from the original to the new database technology
- Tests and output protocols to confirm data integrity between original and new databases.
- Deployment support and supervision of the databases in the PostgreSQL technology
